Fat Soluble Vitamins

Vitamins are organic nutrients that often function as coenzymes within the body. Coenzymes attach to enzymes (apoenzymes) to speed up and enhance productivity. Vitamins are not synthesized by the body and must be obtained by diet. Some vitamins are formed by certain molecules which are known as provitamins. Other vitamins, such as vitamins A, C, and E, are termed antioxidants. One major group of vitamins are fat-soluble vitamins. Fat-soluble vitamins are bundled into chylomicrons and can only be absorbed with bile salts and other dietary fats. They are stored within cells, including hepatocytes.
